Swimmy was our speckled gold fish that Maddie and I picked out a few months ago when we were on a date. Maddie promised to take care of him... of course that didn't happen and I ended up feeding him and cleaning his bowl. (We should have named him Stinky!) The other day I noticed his bowl was really cloudy, so I decided to give him a water change. Well, he didn't like the change and went belly up. Poor Swimmy. Luckily, I noticed his little corpse before Maddie woke up and I gave him a proper burial. This morning Maddie was reminiscing about her quality time with Swimmy and said "Mom, I know you fed him every day, but I really cared for him..." (giving me a great big hug)and in the same breath said "...can we get a hamster next?!" I quickly replied with a big fat NO WAY!!!
