While we were in California we went to Sea World...
We got to see the new dolphin show, that was really good. The old shamu show, which was pretty disappointing. (The new shamu show starts in May.) The girls loved the tide pool where they could touch the starfish. That was always my favorite part! We also carried on the tradition of letting each of the girls pick an oyster. Maddie and Bryn both got white pearls, and Emmy and I both got blue pearls.
After a nice dinner with my Uncle John and his wife Geri and step-son Preston at a haunted restaurant we went to our favorite store- Trader Joe's. We stocked up on our favorite strawberry jam, jalapeno jelly, and mozzarella cheese wrapped in prosciutto (which we left in Aunt Marilyn's freezer). I wish Trader Joe's would expand to Utah! Emmy and Bryn got to be shoppers in training with these cute little carts...
We also went to Old Town San Diego where the girls got to dip their own candles, we ate outside at the best Mexican restaurant, sampled yummy salt water taffy, and picked up a few souvenirs. Brandon and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary while we were there. A little different than our other anniversaries, but it was fun to spend it with the kids! After Old Town, we went to Seaport Village, which is one of my favorite places to go. They had a Busker's Festival going on, so it was packed with people and street performers. We ended our day back at my cousin's house for dinner with my other cousins that were visiting from Utah.
