Broken Bones

I don't like broken bones. I even like them less when they happen to my kids. I like them even less than that when I change to a high deductible insurance three months prior. That's why when Bryn was wincing in pain after school one night I panicked. She was pushed down on the playground during recess and hurt her arm. Bryn has a really high pain tolerance, so she wasn't complaining about it. The only time she would whine was when I would ask her to pick something up. My instincts told me that she had broken it, but I had to be sure. I asked her to rotate her hands in circles and she cried out in pain. I wanted to avoid the InstaCare because I knew they would just put her in a splint until the swelling went down, so I waited until morning and got her right into the doctor. I was crossing my fingers, making wishes, saying prayers- anything in hopes that it wasn't really broken, but the doctor came back with the bad news that she had a buckle fracture on her wrist. Bryn thought it was really cool to get another cast (she broke it once before) and told the doctor all her stories while he put the cast on. Now it's a month and 2 x-rays later and she has her cast off. I really think I need to put this girl in a bubble!
